Volito is a horse I'd been monitoring, it's very unusual to see Jonjo O'Neill train a 3yo sprinter and the hint had to be taken. The horse had slowly looked like he was coming to hand and he ran away with the 2.10 at Nottingham - a very impressive display.
Burza was unlucky in-running on her last start at Newmarket and it wasn't that surprising to see her well backed for the 4.40. She ran a solid race to finish 3rd. She appears on a fair mark and will find easier tasks than this.
Holoko Heights is far from straightforward but looked to hold obvious chances in the 4.20 at Ayr. He got off the mark wearing first-time cheekpieces and now he has his head in front there could be more success - he certainly has the ability to deft a grade and weight hike.
Joe Jo Star took the last as easy as he was entitled to.
Although their pattern racers have under-performed this season, Godolphin's handicappers have performed well. Covert Ambition ran away with the 0-95 at Kempton, showing a decent turn of foot. He could be anything at this stage and it will be interesting to see where he goes next.
Despite running a race full of promise on his handicap debut, Gold Again was a big disappointment in the 7.50. This was his first start for six weeks and perhaps all was not well with the horse. I will bear him in mind for a later date.
At Ripon the John Dunlop pair, Bobbie Soxer and Merdaam, appeared to run below par. The latter looked all at sea on the quick ground.
The same can be said about Herrera who was unplaced in the last, she needs a bit more juice in the ground to show her best.
Capucci and Acrostic ran promising races in the 8.10. Although it appeared that Capucci had every chance the ground may have been too lively for him, he wouldn't have to improve much on easier ground to find a race. Acrostic travelled well and didn't enjoy the clearest of passages, races to be won with him without doubt.
